CHOOSE NICOL

Lucky for you. Your thirteen reasons to choose Nicol Directional Drilling

Endurance: Fleet of all-terrain drilling rigs

We only have Ditch Witch all-terrain drilling rigs in our fleet. All-terrain simply means we can drill through rock and soil. Whatever ground conditions we encounter on your site, you know we will be able to respond: immediately!

You can find out more about our Ditch Witch drills here.

Competence: Skills honed in difficult ground conditions

We did our apprenticeship in the fractured ground conditions of Northeast Scotland. That’s why we’ve successfully graduated to working across the UK and Ireland. We learned the hard way: literally!

Success: 100% project completion record

We have never failed to complete a directional drilling project. That is worth repeating. We have never failed to complete a directional drilling project!

Focus: 3-year replacement cycle for drilling rigs

Our drilling rigs are replaced on a 3-year cycle. You know they are fit for purpose. In 2018 alone we have invested £1m in updating our drill fleet.

Empathy: Worked in SSSI and alongside historic structures

We have worked in Sites of Specific Scientific Interest (SSSI) and alongside historic buildings and structures. You know you’re in safe hands when you work with us.

Clarity: Option of working on a fixed-sum, all-risks basis

We are happy to quote on a fixed-sum, all-risks basis. You don’t have to worry about unforeseen claims for variations and extras. You can sleep at night.

Reputation: Shortlisted in national awards

In 2018 Nicol Directional Drilling was shortlisted in two categories at the UKSTT Awards. We were in competition with utilities, framework contractors and multinational drilling specialists. You can be reassured you are working with the best.

Continuity: Dedicated mobile site support service

We have a mobile site support resource which ensures we maximise uptime on site. The site support fleet carries vital spares and consumables and is manned by fitters whose prime objective is to resolve challenges on site.

Resourceful: Engineering workshop for rig maintenance

We have an engineering team that maintains, services and repairs our fleet of all-terrain rigs and the drill heads themselves. The engineering workshop is equipped with a dedicated inspection pit.

Teamwork: We have never used arbitration or adjudication.

We believe in collaboration and communication. We have never required arbitration or adjudication to resolve a dispute. You’ll enjoy working with us.

Flexibility: Willing to tackle the new and the challenging

As you can see from our portfolio of project case studies we have worked on gas, water and cabling projects of all shapes, sizes and complexities. Attempting something new or challenging? You can count on us.

Supportive: Passionate about sharing learning

Every project throws up new learning points. It’s one of the reasons we are passionate about directional drilling. We love to share this learning with current and prospective clients.

If you are new to directional drilling or just want to know more you can download our ‘Guide to successful directional drilling’ or simply call us on 01224 744473.

Value: Working with clients to generate cost and time savings

The sooner you allow us to contribute to your project planning and delivery the more scope there is for us to generate value for you. Treating directional drilling as a marginal activity can make it far more complicated, intrusive and expensive,
